PuntBuddies keeps records for betting syndicates. This is what we collect, why, and what you can do about it.

What we keep

  • Your email address (to sign you in with a one-time code) and the display name you choose.
  • Your confirmation that you're 18 or over.
  • The syndicates you belong to and the records members enter: bets, legs, results, rotation, penalties and pot entries, and a history of changes to each bet.
  • Screenshots uploaded to syndicates that have screenshot reading switched on.
  • Security records: sign-in times, IP addresses on sign-in and key actions, kept to protect accounts and stop abuse.

We don't sell your information or use it for advertising. PuntBuddies records only; it doesn't connect to your betting accounts.

Screenshot reading

In syndicates with screenshot reading switched on, the screenshots you upload are sent to Google's Gemini service to read the bet details. Google processes them to return the details. We use Gemini's paid service, not the free tier that lets Google use submitted content to improve its products. You confirm or fix every detail before anything is recorded. Screenshots can show your account balance, so crop them first if you'd rather not share it.

In those syndicates, PuntBuddies also checks results: once a riding bet's games should be over, each leg's teams, market, selection and start time are sent to Gemini with Google Search to find the final result. No screenshots, amounts, names or email addresses are sent. What it finds is only a suggestion until a member confirms it.

Weekly wrap-ups

In syndicates with screenshot reading switched on, the commentary in the weekly wrap-up is written by Google's Gemini service. To write it, Gemini is sent the season's bet records (selections, odds and results, never amounts), members' first names, missed rounds and swaps, and the syndicate's earlier wrap-up commentary for the season. Notes on pot entries and email addresses are never sent. The figures in the wrap-up come straight from the records, and wrap-ups are kept in the syndicate so members can read past ones.

The wrap-up is one of the crew emails that go as one group email (see Emails below). If the owner picks the Vulgar tone, members who turn on Keep my wrap-ups clean get the Roast version instead.

Product analytics and session replay

If you accept analytics, we use PostHog, hosted in the EU, to see how PuntBuddies is used so we can fix and improve it. That includes the screens you visit, what you tap and the text on it, session replays (a recording of the page as you use it), heatmaps, console messages and how long requests take (never their contents, cookies or sign-in headers). Signed-in visitors are identified by an internal account id. So we can find you quickly when you ask for help, your PostHog profile also holds your name, your email address, which syndicates you're in and own, and whether any of them has screenshot reading on. If you withdraw your OK or delete your account, we remove your name and email from that profile.

Always hidden in what's recorded on screen, whatever you choose: email addresses (shown and typed), sign-in codes, invite links (trimmed to /join/:token, and moved out of the address bar before anything loads), uploaded screenshots (they can show your balance) and the delete-account confirmation. Our server also records product events (such as "bet recorded") against your account id; if you decline, those are skipped and nothing is recorded in your browser.

Screenshot reading logs

To check the slip reader's quality and cost, every request to Gemini is logged in PostHog: the instructions we send, the details it read back (bets, legs, selections and results), timing, size and cost. The screenshots themselves, account balances and email addresses are never logged. These logs are about our service rather than you: they carry a request id and the syndicate's id, not your account, and are kept whatever you choose about analytics. If you accepted analytics, a log from a screenshot you read also carries your session id, so we can see it next to that session's replay.

Errors

When something breaks, we record the error whatever you choose about analytics, so we can find and fix it: the kind of error, where in the code it happened, the screen or request and a reference number (shown as "Reference" in the message you see). Email addresses, sign-in codes, invite and unsubscribe links, and the details of your bets are removed first, and errors on the sign-in, invite and unsubscribe steps keep only their kind. If you haven't accepted analytics, the error is sent without any cookie, account or profile, and PostHog's own code isn't loaded. If you have, it's linked to your account id and session like the rest of your analytics.

Feedback

When you send feedback, your message, your account id and the type of page you were on (for example a bet page, never which bet) go to our feedback inbox in PostHog (EU) and are stored with your account so we can follow up. This happens whether or not you accepted analytics, because you chose to send it.

Since 2 October 2026 you can attach up to 3 screenshots to feedback. PuntBuddies stores them, and only the operator can see them. Our PostHog feedback inbox gets how many you attached and a link to each, which only the operator can open; the images themselves aren't copied to PostHog. Screenshots show whatever is on your screen, which can include your crew's bets and names, so crop out anything you don't want to share. We delete them after 180 days, or sooner if you delete your account.

You haven't chosen yet.

Emails

We send email through Resend, a service based in the United States, which receives your address and the email to deliver it. Emails carry no tracking: no open or click tracking and no tracking images. Besides sign-in codes we only email about your turns, your crew and your account, and you can turn each one off from your account page or the unsubscribe link in the email. The help page lists every email we send. Resend tells us when an email bounces or is marked as spam; if an email to you alone bounces permanently or you mark one as spam, we stop sending you the other emails (sign-in codes still go) until the operator checks and turns them back on.

Since 2 October 2026, crew emails (Bets are in and the weekly wrap-up) go by default as one group email to everyone in the syndicate who gets them, so members see each other's email addresses and can reply all. You're told this when you join or start a syndicate. To keep your address private, turn on Keep my email address private in your email settings: you then get your own copy and your address isn't shown to the crew. The owner can also switch crew emails to one email each.

Payments

When an owner pays for AI, payments go through Stripe. Stripe receives the owner's email address and card details, and processes them overseas (including in the United States). PuntBuddies never sees or stores card numbers. We keep the Stripe customer and subscription ids, the plan, its status and when it renews or ends, so we know whether AI is on. Stripe doesn't get the syndicate's name, its members or any bets.

Who can see what

  • Members of a syndicate see that syndicate's records and screenshots. Nobody outside it can.
  • Members see whether AI is on, and the first name of the owner who pays for it and until when.
  • The operator can see metadata for running the service, such as syndicate names, member and bet counts, owner email addresses and usage, but not your bets, pot or screenshots.
  • The operator also sees any screenshots you attach to feedback (since 2 October 2026), which can show your crew's bets and names.

How long we keep it

  • Screenshots are kept until the uploader or owner deletes them, or the syndicate is deleted.
  • Syndicate records are kept until the owner deletes the syndicate, which removes all its records and screenshots.
  • Sign-in codes expire after 10 minutes. Sessions last up to 180 days unless you sign out.
  • Session replays are kept for 30 days in PostHog. Feedback is kept until you ask us to delete it.
  • Screenshots attached to feedback are kept for up to 180 days, and deleted with your account.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account from your account page. We sign you out everywhere, remove you from your syndicates and replace your email and name with anonymous placeholders. Bets you placed stay in each syndicate's history under the name you had then, so the ladder still adds up. If you own a syndicate, hand it to another member or delete it first.
